Alteryx announces Fall 2024 platform enhancements

Wed, 13th Nov 2024

Alteryx has announced its Fall 2024 release, enhancing its platform for hybrid analytics processes and workflows.

The update aims to cater to enterprises utilising hybrid architectures, ensuring seamless analytics experiences for business analysts whether their operations are cloud-based or on-premises. This development focuses on optimising data connectivity and AI-assisted reporting, addressing the growing demand from business and IT leaders for more control over data without creating siloes or limiting user access.

The Fall 2024 release includes a range of new capabilities, particularly driven by customer feedback, to enhance productivity by improving the user experience in developing and managing analytics workflows. Among these is the introduction of new data connectors, with support for platforms like Google Cloud Storage and SingleStore, enabling customers to optimise their data investments across varied platforms.

Alteryx now supports Analytic Apps in Alteryx Cloud Execution for Desktop, facilitating easy deployment and management of custom apps on-premises and in the cloud for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform customers. Additionally, Enterprise Utility enhancements provide administrators with greater flexibility and control in user management alongside increased security.

The server API improvements introduced in this release allow administrators to perform more programmatic actions, such as scheduling Analytic Apps and retrieving all jobs via API, which is expected to boost organisational efficiency.

Senior Vice President of Product Management at Alteryx, Jay Henderson, commented on the new enhancements, stating, "Our latest enhancements to the Alteryx platform underscore our commitment to empowering the business analyst to quickly and effectively drive business results with data. These AI and productivity features allow them to spend less time in administrative tasks and more time discovering meaningful insights in their data."

The release sees several features aimed at increasing AI and analytics usability becoming broadly available to customers. Magic Reports, currently in Public Preview mode, represents a new capability within Alteryx that combines an advanced editor with automated analysis powered by AI. This allows users to build, collaborate, and share dynamic reports, potentially streamlining reporting processes through greater automation.

The update includes the availability of Standard Mode within the Designer Cloud, featuring an expanded suite of Designer Prep and Blend tools designed to enhance the cloud data handling process. LiveQuery, now available as a public preview, enhances integration with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake and Databricks, offering benefits like improved data privacy, faster processing, and reduced egress costs by enabling organisations to work with data directly from cloud sources.

Cesar Picco, Senior Engineer with T-Mobile, spoke positively about the Magic Reports feature, saying, "Magic Reports looks exciting. Reporting is so important to analytics initiatives, this kind of innovation has the potential to provide great automation opportunities to analytics teams."
