Ásgeir Óskarsson appointed as BSV Association chief

The BSV Association has announced the appointment of Ásgeir Óskarsson as its new Managing Director.

Ásgeir brings over a decade of experience in the financial services, insurance, and blockchain industries, having held various leadership roles that encompass project management, business analysis, and executive duties. He has previously collaborated with UBS and CSS, and has been associated with multiple start-ups. His career trajectory has also seen him engage in public speaking and education.

In his academic pursuits, Ásgeir has studied both engineering and education, enabling him to merge technical expertise with a broad global outlook. His professional experience includes working in several European territories.

Before taking on the role of Managing Director, Ásgeir held a significant position as the Stewardship and Public Policy Director at the BSV Association. In this role, he played a crucial part in advancing the BSV protocol, developing internal standards, and representing public policy interests within the European Union.

Ásgeir expressed his enthusiasm about his new appointment, stating: "I am privileged to take on the role of Managing Director at the BSV Association. During the year I have been working within BSVA I been involved in a broad range of projects such as stewardship, standards, education and the development of the Teranode software. I have been impressed by the energy and experience in the team and excited by the vast possibilities and opportunity of BSV blockchain. I am looking forward to building on the organisation's strong foundations, driving innovation, and fostering global collaboration to advance the BSV ecosystem and the Association."

Recently, Ásgeir attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he participated in several events. He was a part of a panel of experts discussing the acceleration of energy transition, during which he stressed the role of technologies like blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things in enhancing scalability, efficiency, and energy conservation, alongside blockchain's potential in promoting transparency and trust.

Additionally, the BSV Association has announced that Siggi Óskarsson will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer. Siggi, a veteran technology leader, brings almost three decades of experience in software development, system architecture, and blockchain innovation. Over the past year, he has furthered the development of the Teranode software, laying down the groundwork for BSV's future success. As CTO, Siggi will oversee the entire BSV technology stack, comprising Teranode, overlays, and libraries.
