FYI, this story is more than a year old

Avanade is releasing new offerings to help clients solve complex sustainability challenges and ensure they get the best out of Microsoft's newly announced Cloud for Sustainability.

Avanade notes that Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is a significant issue for business leadership, and finding sustainable business models that fight against climate change while still maintaining business growth is a high priority for many organisations.

The Microsoft solutions provider has developed two new offerings based on Microsoft's Cloud for Sustainability, combining data, green software and the power of the cloud.

It says in doing this, clients will be able to make meaningful progress toward sustainability objectives and see results quickly.

Avanade Sustainability Technology Accelerator will draw on the company's cloud and data technology expertise to allow businesses to use existing data sources and start using the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability to report on emissions and carbon impacts within weeks.

In addition, the company's Avanade Sustainability Quick-Start offering will facilitate combining people, business and technology to prioritise practical actions and test and scale new innovations at speed, based on insights generated from the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability.

“Smarter sustainability actions depend on digital,” Avanade global advisory and executive sustainability lead Jillian Moore says.

“Through the power of Microsoft and people, Avanade's new services will help clients use data to report emissions reductions and digital technologies to turn ambitious sustainability goals into practical actions.

Avanade says it actively collaborates with companies to fast-track their ESG progress by moving to green cloud and software to consume fewer resources.

It also uses AI and the Internet of Things to create safer and more sustainable business models.

Global consulting and engineering company Wood is one of the organisations Avanade is working with to aid it in increasing efficiency and performance as well as becoming more sustainable.

“Our driving purpose at Wood is to unlock solutions to the world's most critical challenges and climate change certainly fits that description,” Wood sustainability solutions senior vice president Ann Rosenberg says.

“We share Avanade's commitment to bringing together digital technologies and diversity of thought to innovate new ways to address this challenge.

“Its deep digital expertise will help leaders take advantage of the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability to prioritise climate-positive actions and progress their sustainability journeys transparently and ethically.

Through its status as a global Microsoft sustainability partner and steering committee member of the Green Software Foundation, Avanade provides specialist expertise to help businesses rethink their sustainability strategies with digital alternatives, allowing them to generate business value from the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability.

“Microsoft believes that, just like every company currently has a financial system of record that sits at the core of their organisation, there needs to be a sustainability system of record,” Microsoft sustainability corporate vice president Elisabeth Brinton says.

“Avanade's new services for the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability will help organisations use technology to run the execution of their sustainability commitments and reduce emissions faster.
