Barracuda has appointed Dan Fletcher as Chief Financial Officer, adding a new finance leader to the cybersecurity company's executive team.

Fletcher joins with experience in finance leadership, software operations and investment roles, including positions at Planful, MarkLogic and Vector Capital.

The appointment comes as Barracuda looks to its next stage of growth, amid demand for cybersecurity platforms and momentum around its BarracudaONE platform.

At Planful, Fletcher was Chief Financial Officer, helping the business triple revenue, expand its global market presence and integrate acquisitions. He also worked on the use of artificial intelligence in finance operations.

Earlier in his career, he was Chief Financial Officer at MarkLogic, where he led the company's shift to a software-as-a-service model and helped steer its sale to Progress Software.

He also spent time at Vector Capital as an Operating Principal, working on acquisition, integration and value-creation initiatives across the firm's portfolio.

Rohit Ghai, Chief Executive Officer at Barracuda, linked the appointment to the company's broader expansion plans.

"This is a pivotal moment for Barracuda, as we take advantage of the accelerating demand for cybersecurity platforms, build on the momentum of BarracudaONE, and advance our strategy for the next phase of growth," said Rohit Ghai, Chief Executive Officer of Barracuda. "Dan's growth mindset, operating experience, and financial discipline will be instrumental as we scale the business."

Fletcher has also held board roles outside his executive positions. He served on the board of LivePerson through its sale to SoundHound AI and previously sat on the board of Reconext.

He is also the Lead Independent Director of Gappify and has advised several early-stage software companies.

Finance background

The appointment gives Barracuda a finance chief with experience across software companies at different stages of development, from early-growth businesses to larger transactions and ownership changes.

That background may prove relevant as cybersecurity companies continue to balance expansion, product investment and profitability, while responding to the growing role of artificial intelligence in both security products and internal operations.

Barracuda said Fletcher's experience spans company scaling, operational change and long-term value creation. His track record includes acquisitions, software business model changes and board oversight.

In his own remarks, Fletcher pointed to the company's momentum and to plans involving artificial intelligence and further expansion.

"Barracuda has strong momentum, a differentiated leadership position, and an exciting future ahead," said Fletcher. "I'm excited to partner with Rohit and the entire team to build on that momentum, embrace AI to innovate and scale the business, and create lasting value for our customers, partners, and stakeholders."

Barracuda operates in the cybersecurity market through a partner-led model, with products spanning email, identities, data, applications, networks and managed XDR.
