CoinPayments has appointed Aaron Budiman as Asia Pacific Regional Director, adding regional leadership as it expands its presence in the market.

Budiman will lead efforts to grow the company's merchant and partner network across Asia Pacific, with a focus on stablecoin-enabled cross-border payments for businesses and financial institutions. His appointment comes as digital asset activity rises across the region and payments groups seek a larger share of the market.

He brings experience in using stablecoins for cross-border payments in Asia Pacific. His background includes working with businesses and financial institutions using digital assets to reduce settlement times, lower transaction costs and improve transparency in international transfers.

Company-cited market data points to rapid growth in the region. According to the OECD, Asia recorded a 69% year-on-year increase in blockchain-based crypto-asset transactions between June 2024 and June 2025, the highest growth rate of any region.

Founded in 2013, CoinPayments says it has processed more than USD $50 billion in transaction volume, has more than 1 million crypto wallet users and has enabled digital asset payments for more than 250,000 merchants worldwide.

Regional focus

CoinPayments is framing Budiman's hire around its Asia Pacific expansion, where regulatory frameworks vary widely and payment providers are working to build relationships with merchants, institutions and local partners.

Cross-border payments have become a key battleground for digital asset firms, particularly those using stablecoins as a settlement tool. Supporters argue that stablecoins can move funds across markets more quickly than some traditional systems, though regulation still varies by jurisdiction.

Budiman said he is joining the company at a significant moment.

"I am thrilled to be joining COINPAYMENTS at such a pivotal stage of its growth journey. The Company's commitment to enabling businesses and consumers to send, receive, and manage digital currencies easily and securely is second to none, and I look forward to working alongside their talented team as it continues to strengthen its position within the rapidly evolving digital assets ecosystem.

With adoption continuing to grow and market requirements becoming increasingly sophisticated, the need for secure and scalable digital assets infrastructure has never been greater. I am excited to contribute to the Company's continued expansion and deliver value for our customers across the Asia Pacific," said Budiman.

The appointment also reflects the importance of Asia Pacific to CoinPayments' broader international plans. The region has become a focal point for payments groups because of strong remittance flows, large populations of digital wallet users and growing interest from financial institutions in blockchain-based settlement tools.

Growth plans

Alex Alexandrov, Group Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CoinPayments, said the company has already seen strong momentum in the region.

"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Aaron. The business has seen strong momentum across the Asia Pacific, and Aaron's deep understanding of the region's diverse regulatory landscapes, combined with his hands-on expertise in compliant and scalable payments infrastructure makes him uniquely positioned to continue to support our growth," said Alexandrov.

The hire adds another senior executive focused on regional execution as digital payments companies compete to establish local networks and respond to changing rules on digital assets. For CoinPayments, that means expanding merchant acceptance and partnerships around cross-border payment use cases in one of the fastest-growing crypto-asset markets.
