CyberCX opens largest New Zealand office in historic building

CyberCX, a trans-Tasman cyber security firm, has inaugurated its largest New Zealand office at 131 Queen Street in Auckland. The facility, housed in the historic Milne & Choyce building from the 1920s, showcases high-tech spaces designed to engage employees, customers, and communities. Over 100 cyber security and cloud professionals will occupy this unique and impressive workspace.

John Paitaridis, Group CEO of CyberCX, expressed the company's vision for unifying New Zealand’s leading cyber security talent, expertise, and capability. "When we launched CyberCX in New Zealand, we aimed to create the country’s first full-service cyber security firm. Our new nine-year lease in Auckland reflects a long-term commitment to businesses, enterprises, and government agencies across New Zealand," remarked Paitaridis. The Auckland facility follows the launch of CyberCX offices in Wellington and Christchurch over the past 24 months.

Tim Sewell, CEO of CyberCX New Zealand, highlighted the firm’s workforce strength, stating, "CyberCX boasts over 200 cloud and cyber security professionals across Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. With New Zealand’s largest specialised cyber security workforce, we offer unmatched depth in cyber advisory, risk, and technical services to protect local organisations from global and local cyber threats."

Sewell also emphasised the modern design of the new Auckland workspace, crafted to enhance employee experience and provide superb facilities for customers and community collaboration to address cyber challenges. The facility incorporates a state-of-the-art Security Operations Centre (SOC), part of CyberCX’s global commitment to 24/7 threat monitoring. The Auckland SOC joins Wellington’s SOC to form a federated network of nine SOCs worldwide, ensuring comprehensive security oversight.

The Honourable Simon Bridges, CEO of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and former leader of The National Party, attended the office opening. Bridges underscored the critical importance of cyber security, stating, "In both government and the business sector, I have witnessed the devastating impact of cyber attacks on New Zealand’s community. New Zealand’s highly digitised and connected economy makes it an attractive target for cybercriminals. Thus, awareness of cyber risks and measures to bolster our defences are critical for the success of our businesses and the safety and wellbeing of our communities."

The building at 131 Queen Street, historically home to Milne & Choyce - an iconic Auckland department store once described by the Auckland Star as a "magnificent building" of global stature - now serves as the new hub for cyber security in Auckland. CyberCX’s establishment of this facility is a forward-thinking move to enhance its service offerings in cyber threat detection, monitoring, and incident response, bringing state-of-the-art capabilities to New Zealand.
