Emburse unveils AI-powered mobile app for enterprise expenses

Yesterday

Emburse has launched a new mobile application for enterprise expense management, featuring artificial intelligence-driven functionality aimed at supporting employees and managers globally.

The application, designed for use with Emburse Enterprise, integrates AI technology at its core to enhance automation, improve data extraction accuracy, and streamline expense reporting processes. The company said the app aims to foster an efficient and seamless experience for users regardless of location, supporting multiple languages and currencies.

Paul Nagy, Chief Product Officer at Emburse, said, "The new Emburse Enterprise mobile app makes submitting and approving expenses practically effortless. It delivers a smooth, intuitive experience that accelerates reimbursements and payments while helping enterprises track and control their spend. Accuracy is significantly boosted across language, currency, and hand written values. This is just the beginning of the power that AI will unleash across our Travel and Expense solutions."

Among its functionalities, the app introduces global performance support, with multilingual functionality and AI-powered Optical Character Recognition (OCR) transcription available to business travelers. This aims to reduce the error margin associated with interpreting receipts from different regions and languages.

The smart receipt capture feature leverages AI to automate data entry from receipts. Users can benefit from capabilities such as auto-capture, receipt border detection, customizable cropping, PDF uploads, and multi-page capture, which is designed to handle longer receipts or multi-page folios. This toolset is intended to minimise manual intervention, removing the need for paper receipts or extensive data entry tasks.

The app also includes an actionable home dashboard, which provides users with a personalised interface for capturing, reviewing, and submitting expenses. The dashboard is intended to offer a clear starting point, facilitating faster expense management tasks and improving user navigation within the platform.

A further key element is the support for both complete and partial expense report approvals. Emburse said this feature allows approvers to act on individual line items within reports, instead of waiting for all items in the approval chain to receive confirmation. The mobile app also accommodates other workflow approvals, such as pre-approvals, invoices, and purchase orders, where applicable.

For enterprise security and scalability, the application includes secure single sign-on (SSO) login, offline access, and compliance features designed to meet global requirements. Emburse highlighted that these characteristics are part of a unified platform paving the way for future travel and expense management developments.

Shelton Palmer, Expense and Card Administrator at Austin Powder, commented on the platform's impact, saying, "Emburse is the most feature-rich yet cost-effective solution. We can now reimburse travelers up to 75% faster."

Feedback from early users pointed to the ease of use of the mobile application. The company indicated that initial adopters found no significant learning curve and appreciated the similarity with the desktop interface, which supported a straightforward transition to the mobile experience.

The mobile app is being offered at no additional cost for existing Emburse Enterprise customers. Emburse stated that the application is available for download through Google Play and Apple's App Store in all supported regions.

Emburse said its suite of tools for travel and expense management is in use by more than 20,000 organisations globally, including corporations, public sector agencies, small and medium-sized businesses, and non-profits.

The launch of the new mobile app adds to its offerings designed to facilitate compliance, accelerate reimbursements, and increase visibility over organisational spend.
