Fidelity Life names Angela Henderson as new CIO in progressive move
New Zealand's largest domestically owned life insurance company, Fidelity Life, has announced the appointment of industry veteran Angela Henderson as their new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Commencing her role in early May 2024, Henderson brings a wealth of experience to the firm, including more than 15 years in the financial services sector in both New Zealand and the UK.
Previously serving as GM Digital at Kiwi Property Group, Henderson held leadership roles in digital and transformation at notable companies such as Air New Zealand, Westpac NZ, and Ports of Auckland. As an established advocate for women in business and technology, her appointment as CIO in the traditionally male-dominated sector symbolises progressive change.
Upon assuming her new position at Fidelity Life, Henderson will take the reins of portfolio governance and delivery responsibilities. Holding an impressive record in portfolio governance, change management, and product delivery, coupled with her expertise in digital strategy and leadership, Henderson is expected to be a vital asset to the insurer's executive team.
Speaking about Henderson's appointment, Fidelity Life's CEO, Campbell Mitchell, expressed his enthusiasm about the latest member of his Executive team. "Angela is a great addition to our team and a great fit for Fidelity Life. Her deep experience in portfolio governance, change management and product delivery, not to mention digital strategy and leadership, is something the team is really looking forward to tapping into," he said.
The incoming CIO joins at a fascinating juncture, as Mitchell explains: "It's certainly an exciting time to be joining as we work towards closing out some significant transformation projects, delivering digital initiatives for advisers, and plan ahead for our next strategic horizons."
Fidelity Life, which celebrated its 50th business anniversary in 2023, has grown to become a key player in the life insurance sector in New Zealand. The insurer, backed by local shareholders including the NZ Super Fund and Ngi Tahu Holdings, has paid out more than $1.6 billion in claims since its foundation in 1973. In its endeavour to provide certainty to New Zealanders to live a more fulfilling life, Fidelity Life protects over 304,000 New Zealanders and distributes its products through a nationwide network of over 1,800 licensed and qualified financial advisers, as well as strategic alliance partners.
