Tue, 21st Nov 2023

Fivetran, a global powerhouse in automated data movement, is further strengthening its alliance with Microsoft via new integrations with Microsoft Fabric and the addition of new data lake destinations. Fivetran today confirmed its support for Microsoft OneLake as a new data lake destination and affirmed its position as a Microsoft Fabric Interoperability Partner. Combined with the simultaneous announcement of its support for Delta Lake on Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) Gen2, Fivetran customers can now securely consolidate their data workloads using any of Fivetran’s over 400 pre-built, fully-managed data pipelines.

The integration with Microsoft aims to facilitate rapid development of AI and generative AI-based projects by bolstering Fivetran’s ability to automate data extraction, cleaning, conforming and converting data to Delta Lake format. This provision of structured, governed and ready-to-query data is key to helping analysts and data scientists deliver high-value business initiatives.

Fivetran automates data movement out of, into and across cloud data platforms. The company automates the most time-consuming parts of the ELT process from extracts to schema drift handling to transformations.

With 99.9% uptime and self-healing pipelines, Fivetran enables hundreds of leading brands across the globe, including Autodesk, Condé Nast, JetBlue, Lufthansa, Morgan Stanley and Pitney Bowes, to accelerate data-driven decisions and drive business growth. Fivetran is headquartered in Oakland, California, with offices around the world.

VP of Product at Fivetran, Fraser Harris, explained the company’s commitment: "Fivetran is dedicated to providing enterprise-grade data infrastructure that customers need to implement generative AI programmes. Our expanded integration with Microsoft supporting OneLake and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 is another example of our commitment to customers to help accelerate digital transformation."

Microsoft unveiled the general availability of Microsoft Fabric at this week's Ignite conference. OneLake, the unified data foundation for Microsoft Fabric, affords customers simple file explorer-like access to their data and the ability to create multiple workspaces within a single tenant.

Dipti Borkar, VP of Azure Data at Microsoft, highlighted the reciprocated commitment from both Fivetran and Microsoft: "Fivetran complements Microsoft with a shared commitment to simplifying and expediting advanced analytics and AI projects for our joint customers. Fivetran’s devotion to enabling customer’s AI journeys shows its support of both OneLake in Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2."

In its pursuit to offer flexible and scalable solutions, Fivetran provides robust data lake foundation support for on-premise, cloud-based, and third-party sources. Regardless of whether an organisation utilises a hybrid or multi-cloud environment, Fivetran ensures high-volume data movement with an enterprise-ready reliability of 99.9% uptime. Furthermore, it assures industry-standard data encryption practices and compliance with GDPR, IS0 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.
