Genesis Energy teams with Informatica for AI-driven data governance
Genesis Energy has partnered with Informatica to enhance its data governance practices through the use of Informatica's AI-powered Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform.
The utility company's decision to implement Informatica's Cloud Data Governance and Catalog aims to establish a modern, centralised, scalable and robust data governance framework.
Genesis Energy, serving nearly 500,000 customers with electricity, reticulated gas, and LPG, aims to streamline and consolidate data from its data warehouse, data lake, and various proprietary data solutions supporting its generation and retail operations. The goal is to improve the quality of internal data, facilitate its flow between business units, and support advanced data and AI solutions.
Angela Zhao, Platform Owner of Genesis Energy's Data Governance and Quality team, emphasised the importance of quality data for effective decision making.
"Quality insights start with quality ingredients, which means quality data. With the robust governance structure we've put in place with Informatica, we can connect and validate data across our systems and applications while protecting sensitive information."
"This will improve trust in the data for decision making to drive greater business outcomes and organisational efficiency," she added.
Alex Newman, Country Manager for Informatica Australia and New Zealand, highlighted the transformative potential of the new data governance solution. "By implementing a modern cloud-based, AI-powered data governance solution, Genesis Energy enables one source of trusted truth that transforms how data is managed and used. This ultimately improves their product and service for customers," Newman remarked.
The collaboration between Genesis Energy and Informatica underscores a commitment to leveraging AI-powered solutions to foster better business practices.
With IDMC as the foundation, Genesis Energy looks forward to a more streamlined data management approach, which is expected to drive internal efficiencies and support customers in their energy transition journey.
