Kyndryl appoints new CTO, creates advisory practice

Kyndryl, the IBM spinoff company with a focus on the managed infrastructure services sector, has announced the appointment of Antoine Shagoury as the company's chief technology officer.

The company also announced its establishment of an ‘advisory practice' designed to assist customers with deploying technology environments, with Vic Bhagan named senior partner of the new practice.

Kyndryl's first CTO

As the company's new CTO, Antoine Shagoury will seek to apply modern IT systems and talent to help customers realise their business objectives, Kyndryl group president Elly Keinan.

“Shagoury is an experienced global leader with significant expertise in mission critical systems and operations, who will direct our technology strategy and investments to advance the vital systems that power progress for our customers,” says Keinan.

Shagoury vacates his employment as a venture partner at Ridge-Lane LP, a strategic advisory and venture development firm focused on solutions to grand challenges in education, sustainability, and information technology.

Before this, he worked at State Street Corporation as executive vice president and global chief information officer, where he managed enterprise-wide technology and modernisation.

Before his employment at State Street, Shagoury served as chief operating officer and chief information officer at the London Stock Exchange Group, where he oversaw global operations across capital markets, information and data services, post-trade and technology. He also served as CIO at the American Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange Alternext.

Kyndryl's Advisory Practice

Keinan says the new practice headed by Vic Bhagan will be a ‘unique capability', combining deep expertise and insights for the company's customers.

“Kyndryl has a deep reservoir of data and advanced IP, and we are adding experts with experience in managing the world's largest and most demanding IT environments,” Keinan says.

“As Senior Partner, Vic's perspective and experience will be a great asset to Kyndryl customers as they modernise and manage their broad IT ecosystem.

Before moving to Kyndryl to begin employment as senior partner of the advisory practice, Bhagat was president of Matrix CvC, advising enterprises on operational excellence and digital process transitions.

Before this, he worked as the senior vice president and chief information officer of Verizon Enterprise Solutions. He has also served as executive vice president and chief information officer of EMC, and as CIO for several divisions of General Electric, including GE Aviation Services, CNBC, GE Corporate, and GE India and Southeast Asia.

He has been an active investor and advisor to many start-up organisations focused on AI and machine learning.
