Nicola Gerber appointed Fastly Vice President for APJ growth drive

Today

Fastly has named Nicola Gerber as Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan, with responsibility for driving growth across the region from Singapore.

Gerber's appointment reflects Fastly's intention to increase its presence in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) market, which the company notes as one of the world's fastest-growing regions in terms of digital transformation and adoption.

With a background spanning over two decades in technology sales, Nicola Gerber has held senior positions at Cisco, Amazon Web Services, and several startups operating across APJ and the EMEA markets. She has spent the last sixteen years in Asia Pacific, focusing on customer success initiatives and building strategic partnerships within the sector.

In a statement reflecting on the APJ market landscape, Gerber said:

"As Asia Pacific accelerates into an AI-powered future, the demand for fast, secure, and reliable digital infrastructure is unprecedented. Today, APJ has already established itself as the world's largest region for mobile users and mobile app usage, and it's among the fastest AI-adopting geographies globally. With a strong foundation of people and expertise in place, we're unlocking hyper-performance for these AI-driven businesses. Our partners play a pivotal role in this journey – not only as a channel for growth, but as strategic collaborators who help deliver end-to-end solutions that customers demand. I'm excited about the new enhancements to our portfolio that demonstrate Fastly's commitment to delivering best-in-class customer experiences and also strengthening our security offerings even further."

Gerber's experience will be used to direct Fastly's go-to-market activities within APJ, collaborating with regional teams and partners to advance adoption of Fastly's edge cloud platform. The company highlights that its platform can deliver low-latency, scalable support for businesses operating AI-driven applications and aiming for more dynamic, real-time digital experiences.

According to Fastly, the APJ region's rapid AI adoption and expanding mobile user base underscore the importance of efficient, reliable digital networks. Fastly's infrastructure is positioned to support organisations needing to innovate and scale quickly while maintaining high standards of digital security and user engagement.

Scott Lovett, Fastly's Chief Revenue Officer, commented on the importance of Gerber's appointment to the company's regional and global ambitions:

"Bringing Nicola on board marks an exciting step forward in our investment in the APJ region – an essential part of Fastly's global growth journey. APJ represents one of the most promising markets in the world – not only for Fastly, but for our partners and customers who are accelerating their digital transformation journey."

He further noted the impact Gerber is expected to have:

"We see immense opportunity here, and our partners are key to unlocking that value, helping businesses scale rapidly while delivering the best possible outcomes for customers. Nicola has a deep understanding of how to build and nurture strong partnerships and ecosystems that drive innovation and long-term success. With her track record of growing high-performing, diverse teams and leading with impact, Nicola is the ideal leader to harness the momentum."

Beyond her commercial experience, Gerber is known for her work promoting diversity in leadership. She has served as an Independent Director at Cavotec, contributed to the Singapore Institute of Directors, worked with the Asian University for Women, and been involved in initiatives such as Women@AWS APJC. She was recognised in 2024 as one of Asia's "Most Inspirational Women in Leadership" at the "Break the Ceiling Touch the Sky" event.

As Vice President for APJ, Gerber will work with regional stakeholders to accelerate Fastly's business growth, broaden the adoption of its edge cloud technologies, and help enterprise customers to enhance the performance and security of their digital operations.
