Xero offers up $20,000 to a trailblazing tech-focused small business

For the second year running, Xero has launched its global Xero Beautiful Business Fund competition, where we work to champion small businesses across four separate categories in Aotearoa, New Zealand. 

We’re committed to helping Kiwi small business owners achieve their goals, which often includes investing in new technology and tools to help improve their productivity. 

In fact, one of the four categories is ‘Trailblazing with technology’, giving the recipient $20,000 to invest in their own technological innovation. 

There’s also an additional $50,000 up for grabs for the global category winner - totalling $70,000 to be potentially won by a New Zealand small business. 

Last year’s inaugural winner, Buzz Burrows took out the global prize, netting $70,000 to put towards new technology for the pendant light manufacturing business from Wānaka, Queenstown. 

With the prize money, the company has enhanced their manufacturing process with a state of the art tech-focused laser-cutter, allowing them to streamline manufacturing and reduce waste. 

Growth is the goal for Buzz Burrows, which graduated from a passion project to a main source of income thanks to the Xero Beautiful Business Fund.

The Xero Beautiful Business Fund seeks to help the winning small businesses execute their growth plans, improve brand awareness, and to provide support to the Kiwi small business community. 

This money can be used by the winning business to help them action essential growth plans, ensuring they are not just able to survive to 2025, but also thrive well into the future. 

To enter, businesses simply need to fill out an online application and submit a 90-second video outlining how the Xero Beautiful Business Fund could support their future. 

Entries are open until the 27th of August, and Xero small businesses are strongly encouraged to apply.
