Xero unveils customisable homepage packed with widgets

Fri, 30th Jan 2026

Xero has started rolling out a redesigned homepage that puts business performance metrics, task prompts and customisable widgets into a single view.

The company said it will introduce the new experience gradually to Xero organisations over the coming months. It will roll out on an organisation-by-organisation basis. All users inside one organisation will receive the change at the same time.

The homepage adds new widgets and updates existing ones. The company said it has focused on surfacing key financial information without requiring users to run separate reports.

Xero stated that it redesigned to provide a better advantageous experience to its customers based on the suggestions and needs they expressed. The rationale is to display the main business performance metrics and jobs to be completed at a glance, allowing the user to take action on crucial tasks more quickly. It said the new design also allows users to modify the widgets so that they may focus on what is most important.

Homepage changes

The new layout adds a net profit or loss widget on the homepage. Xero said it will show net profit or loss without the user running a separate report.

Xero also added a widget for recent invoice payments. The company said users can use it to assess cash flow. The cash in and out widget now includes totals.

The homepage includes a new tasks widget. It flags actions such as bank reconciliation, overdue invoices, and bills. Xero said users can take action from the widget.

Xero said it has updated the widgets that users rely on frequently. It also noted that the updated widgets allow users to dig into data more quickly.

Custom layout

The company has put customisation at the centre of the redesign. Users can tailor the homepage with drag-and-drop options.

Xero said users can show or hide widgets. Users can also resize and reorder them. The company said users can save a preferred layout for any screen size.

Xero mentioned that a user's layout will not affect what other people in the same organisation see. Each user can set their own view.

Xero will include a switch-back option at launch. Xero said this allows users to revert to the old dashboard. The company said it will refresh to the new experience automatically after 24 hours.

Customer input

Xero said it used customer feedback during development. It said more than 33,000 customers contributed from early concepts through beta.

It also cited a survey they conducted in November 2025 across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. The survey had 1,191 respondents. Xero said 70% of customers in the survey said the new Xero homepage makes it easier to stay on top of their business.

The company included feedback from three customers as part of its announcement.

"In 30 seconds a skim on my homepage can tell me the position the business is in," said Josh, UK, Stand4Socks.

"The thing that I like best about the new look and design is that it is immediately customisable," said Scott, US, Trilobite Design & Urban Artifact.

"The new experience motivates me when I see my numbers, it helps me understand my business better," said Destynee, US, Optician.

Xero said users can try the new experience using the Demo Company in Xero while the roll-out continues.
