New Zealand unveils AI blueprint aiming for global leadership by 2030

The AI Forum of New Zealand has announced the release of the "AI Blueprint for Aotearoa New Zealand," a comprehensive strategy aimed at positioning the country as a leading hub for responsible artificial intelligence (AI) innovation by 2030.

The document outlines a collaborative approach to leveraging existing industry initiatives to produce tangible results and accomplish a shared vision for the future.

Madeline Newman, Executive Director of the AI Forum, stated, "The AI Blueprint for Aotearoa sets ambitious goals, aiming to establish New Zealand as a world-leading hub for responsible AI innovation by 2030, ensuring a prosperous, inclusive and equitable future."

The blueprint prioritises six specific sectors for AI investment: agriculture, architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), creative industries, education, environment, and health. These sectors have been identified as critical for New Zealand's long-term economic prosperity and are anticipated to benefit significantly from increased AI adoption.

For each of the six sectors, the blueprint provides specific frameworks outlining necessary activities over the next 12 months, which are intended to achieve five-year goals.
