Waave partners with Mint Payments to enhance travel industry payments

Wed, 5th Jun 2024

Waave, a prominent player in payments technology, has announced a significant partnership with Mint Payments to introduce real-time account-to-account consumer payments in the travel agent sector across Australia and New Zealand. This collaboration aims to enhance payment options within the travel industry, providing travel agents with a broader range of payment methods for their clientele.

Mint Payments, a provider of payment services within the travel industry in Australia and New Zealand, boasts over 1,600 agency agreements across major travel brands. As part of this partnership, Mint Payments will integrate Waave's Pay by Bank solution into its consumer payments platform, broadening the spectrum of payment methods available for travel agents.

This integrated Pay by Bank solution is set to offer biometric authentication, which is expected to enhance security measures over traditional electronic funds transfers (EFT). Additionally, this solution will streamline operations for travel agents by eliminating the need to reconcile multiple payment systems, reducing the overall complexity of managing consumer payments.

Alex Teoh, CEO of Mint Payments, highlighted the progressive nature of the Pay by Bank option: "Pay by Bank is one of the most progressive payment options in the market and will be an important tool for travel merchants. Mint is collaborating with all major travel agency groups to enhance payment solutions available to their agents. We have identified that agents need to manage bank-to-bank transfers for customers more effectively, and by leveraging advancements in payment and banking technology, we aim to streamline this process."

Teoh further emphasised that the enhanced payment solution from Waave is expected to boost agent productivity and provide consumers with a seamless, direct payment experience, significantly enhancing overall customer satisfaction.

Ben Zyl, CEO and Co-Founder of Waave expressed enthusiasm regarding the new partnership and the expansion into the travel sector. He commented, "We look forward to entering a new vertical in partnership with Mint. Travel is a space that is ripe for real-time payments. This Pay by Bank integration provides an important value-add for Mint's merchant base, including automatic receipting and bank reconciliation. For travel consumers, Pay by Bank provides secure, real money payments at a click - no matter the size of the transaction. Mint is leading the industry on Pay by Bank, bringing choice and innovation to the market."

Waave's Pay by Bank solution is already utilised by major retailers across Australia, including Barbeques Galore, Eva Mattresses, and Oz Hair and Beauty. Additionally, Waave recently announced a major partnership with Chemist Warehouse, further solidifying its presence in the retail payment solutions market.
